Travel Info

International and Domestic flights to Papua

There are no direct international flights to Papua.
To visit Papua, flights are available from the following locations in Indonesia: Manado, Makassar (Ujung Pandang), Bali or Jakarta.  All of these have international connections.  Flights are scheduled between these locations and the townships of Jayapura, Biak, Manokwari and Sorong in Papua.

Several airlines fly to Papua and some have a daily schedule.  They include Garuda Indonesia Airways, Merpati Airlines, Wings Air (Lion Air), Express Air, and Batavia Air.

Some of these airlines also schedule domestic flights within Papua.

There is a land border crossing from Vanimo in Papua New Guinea to Jayapura in Papua.  Public motor vehicles cross the border between these two towns.  There are no direct flights from either Australia or Papua New Guinea to Papua.

Clients should note that the itineraries provided by PBC do not include the fares of international flights or internal flights from the port of entry into Indonesia to the rendezvous location.
Reservations for internal flights to destinations included in the tour will be made by PBC. Associated costs will appear in the invoice.  All other internal travel requirements during the tour will also be arranged by PBC.

Travel documents and visa regulations

The PBC advises all non – Indonesian visitors to make inquiries with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in their own country about travel documents and visa regulations.
